North American Students of Cooperation are gathering for our Cooperative Education & Training Institute: Interdependence as Resistance. This art was created in response to the continuation of humans being kidnapped & trafficked in the U.S. by our very government. Highlighting the importance of us knowing our neighbors, caring for them, feeding each other, speaking up for each other, and watching out for one another. The layers of arms wrapping around each other is a visual representation of the two sayings, “we keep each other safe” and “all we have is each other”.
When our government is dependent on us living our lives as individuals, practices and skills like navigating conflict, cooking for a group, pooling our funds together, redistributing our resources, facilitating democratic meetings, and repairing relationship instead of canceling one another, are all acts of resistance. We will continue gathering around the dinner table.
We will continue watching each other’s kids. We will continue distributing food and supplies to our neighbors. Because all we have is each other and we keep us safe.
All proceeds of this design will go towards NASCO's continuation of educating and training co-opers.
