Angel or Demon? by Cartunime

Growing up, I've always been surrounded by religious imagery such as Jesus, Mother Mary, and angels. Though one must ask, what makes an angel? If they were portrayed with a broken halo and monstrous wings are they still consider an angel? Perhaps a fallen angel? Is there a fine line that distinguishes between an angel or demon? Those are the questions I present to the audience when they look at this design.

I combined my love of anime and block printing when creating this design. Using recognizable features (ex. halo, feathers) to portray a feminine angel, but with a twist. Her once lovely white-pink feathery wings has transformed into bat-like wings with several eyes, each looking at different directions. The addition of roses perfectly represents the duality in nature (good and evil). Roses are often symbols of beauty and love, despite having sharp thorns that can cause pain.
