This preorder is part of the Heaven or Hell design challenge.
The challenge runs until September 21st, 2026 at 12pm (noon) CST.
This design explores the idea that heaven and hell are not fixed, universal concepts, but deeply personal experiences.
The two intertwined figures represent heaven and hell, yet neither is portrayed as entirely good nor entirely evil. Instead, they exist in tension with one another, encouraging the viewer to question conventional ideas of what is desirable, fulfilling, or morally "good". The phrase "one man's heaven is another man's hell" acts as the foundation of the piece, suggesting that experiences, aspirations, and circumstances are interpreted differently by every individual.
The composition draws inspiration from the ouroboros, an ancient symbol depicting a serpent consuming its own tail. This reference reinforces the cyclical relationship between opposing forces and the idea that heaven and hell are often interconnected. One cannot be understood without the other, and the boundary between them is rarely as clear as it may seem.
Colour is used to strengthen this contrast. The red and white palette references traditional visual associations with hell and heaven while creating a bold, striking visual tension. Despite their opposition, the colours work together harmoniously, mirroring the relationship between the two figures themselves.
Ultimately, the design encourages viewers to reflect on their own definitions of heaven and hell, while recognising that the realities of others may look very different. In doing so, it invites a greater sense of empathy, understanding, and compassion for perspectives beyond our own.
