“Hell Is Other People” is a modern interpretation of the hell theme by Visual Artist, QI (@authenticrylfake). It features a reinterpretation of Yama, the king of hell in Buddhist mythology, said to judge the dead. The quote “Hell Is Other People” is a twist and play on this theme, commenting on how hell is not a place we go to after we pass but exists alongside us in plain sight. Like Yama judges the dead in the hellish realms, we live in a society where strangers can be highly judgemental and critical of our lives, especially online. So this design acts as a stark reminder that hell is not just a place, it’s created by the very people around us.
